South of Boston GuideSouth of Boston are several beach towns that make ideal vacation spots. One of the more famous is Plymouth, the spot where the Pilgrims chose to settle. Today Plymouth, with its living museum Plimoth Plantation and its recreation of the Mayflower, can still offer visitors a chance to see what 17th century New England life was like. Further south near Rhode Island are the whaling town New Bedford, which Herman Melville made reference to in Moby Dick, and Fall River, once home to accused ax murderer Lizzie Borden. Here are some feature articles on Southeastern Massachusetts:Battleship CoveThe collection of historic vessels in Fall River offers a hands-on lesson in military history.Visiting the Pilgrims' PlymouthThe town south of Boston offers visitors a chance to see life as it was in Colonial New England. |
