Legend has it that this rock was a familiar marker of the Pilgrims after they landed in the New World in 1620. However, the rock may be more symbolic than any thing else. No record of the rock appeared until 100 years after the Pilgrims lived here. The rock is protected by a canopy by Plymouth's waterfront.
