Lodging North of Boston
The North Suburbs area offers an easy commute into the Boston via I-93. The North Shore region includes Salem, seaport towns, and communities such as Danvers and Peabody that are only about 30 minutes north of Boston. The Haverhill and Lowell area is a quick commute to technology companies along I-495, and New Hampshire is just over the border.
Along Interstate 93 and Interstate 495, the Andover area is a central location for visiting Boston or heading north to New Hampshire.
Cape Ann includes Gloucester, a fishing town with great beaches; Rockport, a picture-pretty community where artists congregate; and Ipswich and Essex, known for clams and antique shopping.
The Haverhill area is convenient for visiting attractions north and west of Boston, and for heading north to New Hampshire or Maine.
The Lowell/Chemlsford area is convenient for visiting attractions north of west of Boston, including Concord and Lexington, and for business travel to the I-495 area.
The Newburyport area includes Plum Island, a summer beach haven accessible by a bridge, and it is close to Hampton Beach and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The area where the infamous Salem Witch Trials took place is a popular tourist destination with a well-developed waterfront area, new age wiccan shops, and historic sites.
Towns just north of Boston are a quick drive or bus ride to Boston attractions and a good starting place for exploring the North Shore/Cape Ann region.
About 15 minutes north of Boston, Woburn's many hotels are in a good location for easy access into the city, as well as to Massachusetts' North Shore.
